HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Founder and Chairman of the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), has confirmed that DEWA will organise the 22nd WETEX virtually on 26-28 October 2020.

The 3D exhibition is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa, and it will provide a new experience for exhibitors and visitors from around the world. It will enable exhibitors to display their products in an innovative way through 3D customisable stands to suit each company’s needs. It also will enable meetings, seminars, and workshops using the latest smart technologies.

“For the last 21 years, we have organised WETEX every year under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of DEWA. WETEX has become one of the largest and most important global water, environment, and energy exhibitions. We have learned from our wise leadership the importance of turning challenges into opportunities. Due to the travel restrictions, and the precautionary measures implemented in most countries around the world because of the COVID-19 pandemic, WETEX 2020 will happen virtually; using DEWA’s state-of-the-art digital infrastructure. This will provide an exceptional experience for exhibitors and reach a larger number of visitors across the world,” said Al Tayer.

Al Tayer explained that the carbon-free virtual WETEX supports the vision of the wise leadership to promote the sustainable development of the UAE and enhance Dubai’s position as a global hub for green economy. Al Tayer said that WETEX is an outstanding opportunity for public and private companies to reach thousands of exhibitors, participants, officials, and decision makers in energy, water, renewable energy, environment, and sustainability. They will be able to make deals and build partnerships as well as learn about market needs, especially in view of the increased adoption of solar photovoltaic technology in the UAE and the region.

“This exceptional WETEX is an important opportunity to learn about the latest smart technologies and innovative solutions that will be rolled out for the first time, especially in renewable energy, water, and sustainability. WETEX will also enable visitors to participate in a large number of specialised seminars and workshops, to meet experts on green economy, smart cities, innovation, and sustainable development, from around the world,” said Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, and Chairperson of the Sales, Logistics and Sponsorship Committees at WETEX.

WETEX 2019 was held under the umbrella of Green Week, and was a great success with a large turnout from exhibitors, visitors, and participants. It attracted 2,350 exhibitors and 38,718 visitors from 89 countries around the world.
