Eight UAE ministers will take part in the third Aqdar World Summit in Russia later this month

A delegation of Emirati ministers will join leaders, experts and officials from across the globe at a UAE-made conference being held thousands of miles away in Russia.

The third Aqdar World Summit – which will put a focus on pressing issues such as education, youth empowerment, food security, science and technology – will be hosted in Moscow from August 29 until September 1.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, will deliver the keynote speech during the opening ceremony of an event helping to shape future policy.

The summit will be held under the theme ‘global empowerment of communities: experiences and lessons learned’.

The two previous summits were held in Abu Dhabi.

Eight UAE ministers will be taking part in the conference, with an opportunity to exchange ideas and build links with Russian officials high on the agenda.

“The main goal is for Emirati and Russian organisations to learn from one another,” said Col Dr Abdulrahman Al Mansoori, general co-ordinator for the Aqdar World Summit.

“We will share with them the UAE experience in fields like artificial intelligence, education and youth empowerment. We will also learn how they overcame the challenges they faced while carrying out their own projects.”

The summit chief said there is a desire for more Emiratis to learn Russian, as it is “the language of space”.

“For Emiratis to reach space they need to learn Russian,” said the colonel.

Dr Abdul Al Salam Al Madani, executive chairman of Aqdar, said being invited to hold the summit in Moscow is a great opportunity.

“Aqdar is an Emirati summit that has become recognised globally. The fields under discussion vary between medical, legal and humanitarian, even the United Nations is involved.

“So we are very proud as Emiratis that Moscow will host the summit on an international level where we will appear with our logo and the name of the UAE.

“Holding the summit this year in Moscow reflects the deep ties between the UAE and Russia.

“We aim to educate and enrich the experiences of the participants by introducing them to the latest advancements in fields like training, education and culture.”

Topics under discussion will include food security, national service, the UAE’s experience in hosting the Special Olympics, youth empowerment, reaching space through higher education and the success of UAE schools.

The summit will feature more than 25 workshops and panel discussions.

Other UAE ministers travelling to Moscow to be part of the four-day event include Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, Omar Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, and Mariam Al Mehairi, Minister of State for Food Security.
