Paris, 13 May 2020 – Global Exhibitions Day(GED) 2020 is only three weeks away. Thisyear, the focus of our industry’s global day ofawareness and advocacy is the critical roleexhibitions play in getting business andeconomies back on track. The theme for GED 2020 is “exhibition are key to rebuildingeconomies.” The 5th annual edition of GED isactively supported and promoted by 41 partnerassociations, UFI, and members of theseassociations, throughout the world.

GED 2020 is a unification of the industry, anoccasion to share hope and optimism, and a focus on the important role of exhibitions inreconnecting and rebuilding communities andeconomies. It promotes that face-to-faceexhibitions are the fastest way to reconnectwith the marketplace, and that the connectionsmade at exhibitions will lead to the renewal ofthe economy.

To support preparations and to provide a strong, unified message to stakeholders worldwide, UFI has data available related to the economicimpact of exhibitions, highlighting theimportant contribution of exhibitions in termsof total output, contribution to GDP and jobs. As well, it will be hosting an UFI Connectssession, 19 May at 9:00 NY / 14:00 UK / 21:00 HK, entitled “Exploring Creativity in time forGlobal Exhibitions Day.” Further, it is runninga content campaign promoting key messagesfocusing on the GED 2020 theme.

All members of the exhibition industry areinvited to join the GED celebrations byrecognising the impact of exhibitions on localeconomies, in building businesses, andconnecting people all around the world.

Mary Larkin, UFI President said, “In the spiritof creating an opportunity out of a crisis, I challenge all of us to promote our industry atevery opportunity and to ensure that everyoneknows the role we play in an economicrecovery. The first opportunity to do that is on 3 June – Global Exhibitions Day!”
