Digital Dubai inaugurated the Dubai Government Pavilion at the GITEX Global 2023 exhibition, which is currently holding its 43rd edition at the Dubai World Trade Center from 16th to 20th October 2023, bringing together more than 40 government and private entities in the Emirate of Dubai.

Throughout the platform, Digital Dubai is showcasing a wide range of its flagship digital services and projects, in addition to launching a set of new ones, to implement and enable its strategy, support it with more innovative projects, and advance towards the complete digitalization of every aspect of life in the city of Dubai.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of Digital Dubai, asserted that “the Dubai Government Pavilion at GITEX Global 2023 offers a glimpse into Dubai’s digital future, where emerging and advanced technologies play a central role in ensuring happiness among citizens and residents, offering them easy, quick, and integrated digital services. The Digital Dubai platform this year includes 40 pavilions, each representing a government or private entity from various fields, who came together to strive for a common purpose – to position Dubai as a global digital hub and an inspiring international capital.”

At the unified platform, Digital Dubai is showcasing key projects from all of its affiliated institutions. In cybersecurity, its highlighting updates to the ‘Al Maha’ project, which is an advanced scanning tool that finds all government digital assets on the internet, whether hosted in the UAE or abroad. It also detects if there are any vulnerabilities in the discovered digital assets, classifies them based on their severity, and proposes the best approach to address them. Digital Dubai is also presenting the Application Programming Interface (API) Tester, a portal where users, developers, and security officers can assess and test their API endpoints. The API scanner will identify gaps and weaknesses within the provided API request, mainly to help developers and users patch and secure their APIs

Also on the list is the Mrqab project, a physical device that is installed in an entity’s network to help detect suspicious activities and security incidences. It is given to entities that lack any in-house tool or Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution. Additionally, the CyberSOC initiative is showcased, which serves to monitor various entities’ cybersecurity performance using a centralized Security Operations Center (SOC) system to detect security incidents and measure each entity’s response time to fix security incidents. Meanwhile, the Asaas project provides details on information security regulation compliance and maturity, speeds up audits, broadens coverage of methods and practices, and allows for future regulatory and auditor method adjustments.

On the data front, Digital Dubai is showcasing the ‘Know Your Customer’ project, which aims to provide a comprehensive view on the individual’s identity – be they a citizen, resident, visitor, or a virtual investor – to provide them with proactive, tailored, and positive government services. The platform also showcases the Dubai Population Now project, a pioneering proactive initiative at the city level and an alternative step to the traditional census based on field visits to households. It aims to provide a real-time population count of high-quality and comprehensive coverage, taking into account the application of international best practices, methodologies, and international recommendations in the process of digital statistical transformation of the data collection process.

On a similar note, the Dubai Statistics Center (DSC) Website project is also highlighted as the official website for the emirate’s statistics in various fields, offering the most up-to-date statistical reports. The website is considered the main portal for all DSC services, which include the digital statistics system, the statistical map, and the interactive statistics system available to the public, in addition to the opinion polls portal. The Dubai Talks platform, for its part, helps provide a better understanding of people’s perception of the Dubai community by gathering data on their opinions and sentiments, whereas the Opinion Polls Empowerment project aims to empower Dubai Government entities to conduct opinion polls related to their respective industry sectors using advanced technological solutions, in accordance with scientific statistical standards.

Moreover, the ‘Household Income and Expenditure Survey for 2024’ is a leading strategic survey for planning and supporting the social and economic sector in the emirate of Dubai, while the Dubai Dashboard project offers a live dashboard that gives a comprehensive view of city-level indicators to help make data-based decisions across Dubai’s key sectors.

As for Digital Dubai’s projects, the platform will showcase the Dubai.AI interactive platform, which uses generative artificial intelligence (AI) to offer a comprehensive, interactive, and unified source of information, constantly fed with data from official sources and covering all sectors of the city. The platform is a personal digital assistant for the user, designed with generative AI to answer their enquiries and questions instantly and interactively.

Furthermore, Digital Dubai is launching the 5.0 edition of UAE PASS five years after its launch. UAE PASS is the first secure national digital identity for citizens, residents, and visitors of UAE, developed by Digital Dubai in collaboration with Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) – Dubai, and Abu Dhabi Digital Authority. Meanwhile, the Digital City Experiences initiative aims to develop integrated, connected, and seamless digital journeys connecting services from local and federal government, as well as the private sector, for citizens, residents, visitors, and businesses. These include exchanging residential grants, managing workers’ residencies, obtaining a land grant, managing domestic workers’ residencies, obtaining medical care, buying and selling a vehicle, setting up and managing electric vehicles (EVs), the ‘May They Rest in Peace’ service, and constructing and maintaining a building.
