The Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), and Dubai Solar Show (DSS) organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), play a key role in the comprehensive development in the UAE, by supporting the event management industry and strengthening its position as a global capital for specialised events.

By attracting thousands of visitors every year, WETEX and DSS have become a vital platform to introduce the world to the UAE and Dubai’s achievements in sustainability, clean and renewable energy. This platform also enables learning about experiences and opportunities from other countries creating local and global partnerships. The exhibitions provide a vital opportunity for the public and private sector to reach thousands of exhibitors, participants, officials and decision-makers in energy, water, renewable energy, environment and sustainability to sign deals and build partnerships. This is in addition to gauging expansion of market needs in renewable energy in the UAE and the region.

WETEX and DSS have recorded a growing number of companies from 4 to 2,350 companies. The number of participating countries has increased from 2 to 55 countries, while the number of sponsors has increased from 3 to more than 100 sponsors and partners. The exhibition is spread over 85,000 square metres and the number of visitors has surpassed 38,718.

“The state-of-the-art infrastructure in Dubai which is a result of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as well as the availability of specialised convention centres in Dubai, along with the Emirate’s cultural, commercial, and investment exposure, support our efforts to develop WETEX and DSS. Moreover, this helped us to become a renowned international exhibition, enhancing Dubai’s position as an international convention centre. Dubai proved its global leadership once again, by resuming physical events despite the COVID-19 pandemic challenges, without compromising the health and safety of individuals. This is achieved through commitment to the country’s precautionary measures and demonstrates the recovery of the international exhibition sector. DEWA will organise the 23rd WETEX and DSS under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) from 5 to 7 October at Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo 2020 Dubai,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, Founder and Chairman of WETEX and DSS.

Since its launch in 1999 by DEWA, WETEX has witnessed significant growth. It has become one of the most prominent international exhibitions in water, electricity, energy, environment, oil, gas, green buildings, and environmental sustainability. This makes it a strong supporter of the vision of the Government of Dubai in building a sustainable future for the Emirate.

The exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to participate in a wide range of specialised seminars and workshops on the latest technologies and solutions in oil and gas, power generation using clean and renewable energy, as well as solar grids. The show holds forums for experts and specialists from around the world in different areas of the green economy, smart cities, innovation and sustainable development. They also include a wide range of activities related to energy and water conservation, protecting the environment, waste management, green buildings and other solutions to reduce carbon emissions.
