The extension comes as the UAE bids to contain the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus

All venues, tours, entertainment activities, fitness and health centres in Dubai will continue to stay closed until further notice, according to a notification distributed by Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.

The closures were originally due to be lifted on April 14 but they will now remain shut.

As the country works tirelessly to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, Dubai Tourism has taken the steps in order to “ensure the health and safety of its residents and visitors”, according to the circular.

“Dubai Tourism will continue to evaluate the situation in coordination with the relevant health authorities.”

The National Sterilisation Programme continues, urging residents to stay at home 24 hours per day unless for essential visits to supermarkets, pharmacies or to the hospital for medical appointments or emergencies – permits are required in order to journey outside.
